“Hey welcome to Blue Gene’s Pub! My name is Edunn Levy and I’m the pub manager of this baby right here!” - Edunn Levy portraying Edunn Levy
Edunn Levy introducing the audience to the cellar
Working all summer in a pub on Long Island Sound came with many tales and anecdotes ranging in degrees of comedy, drama and absurdity. Near the end of my contract, I decided to write down some of the stories I had endured as a bartender into a script and gave it to one of the greatest collaborators I’ve ever met; Edunn Levy. He quickly gave notes and before we knew it, before, during and after our shifts we were recording on my iPhone 8 producing the script. It took many extra hands to help film this, in fact at one point we handed the camera to a customer at the bar and asked them to just hold it while we acted. As our project continued, many peers joined our film as actors and camera operators.
Following the story of Edunn, Kyle and Marline as they bartend an average night on the job, the audience is introduced to the many different experiences we dealt with almost daily.
The project ended up requiring a private release and finally on my last day of contract, I finished the editing and went to the “premiere”. To my complete shock, the room was full of almost thirty people who had cramped, wedged and sat on top of one another to watch the film.
It was during this project I truly found my love and passion for writing and film directing. To have people squeezing in a tiny room to see a product of my design is something I still chase after to this day.
